Fordham University swimmer Mia Bullock will use her final year of athletic eligibility to swim for Duke University while attending graduate school there this fall. Bullock attended Fordham for 4 years, but sat out the 2018-2019 season with a medical redshirt, meaning she still has 1 season of athletic eligibility remaining.
Bullock will graduate from Fordham this May with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) Degree with a dual primary concentration in Economics and Marketing, and a secondary concentration in Finance. This fall she will be enrolled in Duke’s Fuqua School of Business where she will pursue her Masters of Management Studies (MMS).
I knew that Duke was a place I would want to continue my academic and swimming careers. The unique academic curriculum and outstanding faculty are what drew me to Fuqua. Their swim team is very family-team oriented. After the first conversation I had with Coach Dan Collela I knew Duke was the right swimming program for me to continue my final year of eligibility. I could not be more excited to be a Blue Devil!
Bullock was named the Atlantic 10 Conference’s Most Outstanding Performer last season after winning A10 titles in both the 100 fly (53.03) and 200 fly (1:57.60), both of which came in new conference records. Possessing a unique combination of abilities, Bullock also placed 3rd in the conference in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.65).
She was also a member of Fordham’s gold medal-winning relays (Bullock’s split in parenthesis)- 200-yard free relay (22.17), 400-yard free relay (49.18), and 400-yard medley relay (breast-1:00.82). Both the 200 free and 400 medley relays were also new A10 Conference records.
Best Times in Yards:
- 50 free – 24.24 (22.17 relay split)
- 100 free – 53.11 (49.18 relay split)
- 100 fly – 53.03
- 200 fly – 1:57.60
- 100 breast – 1:01.65

- 200 IM – 2:03.54
Bullock will join a Duke team that finished 6th out of 12 teams at the 2020 ACC Championship meet and returns 17 swimmers from their ACC meet roster. Among the few graduations for Duke will be their top butterflies, Alyssa Marsh, so Bullock will have the inside track for medley relay legs next season.
The Fordham women finished 2nd at last season’s A10 Championship meet, 74 points behind George Washington University. In addition to the transfer of Bullock, the team also graduates A-10 A-finalists Paulina Watson and Theresa Mullen.
Bullock is a native of Westport, Connecticut where she was an All-American swimmer at Staples High School and 5-time Connecticut State Champion in individual events. She currently does her club swimming with the Fairport Area Swim Team (FAST) in Fairport, New York, near Rochester, where she is currently chasing an Olympic Trials cut. Her best time in the 100 fly in long course is 1:01.26, and the Trials cut is 1:00.69.
I trained with her over winter break, she was awesome, very hard working, kudos if you’re reading this Mia
Put that work ethic with the coaching expertise of Dan Colella and this will prove to be a great combination. Should be fun to see the progression over the next year.
