JERSEY CITY, NJ –The St. Francis College Brooklyn men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams travel to Saint Peters University for head-to-head competitions.
The Terriers’ men’s squad was topped by Saint Peters, 119-162, while the women’s team defeated Saint Peters, 197-87. The Women also had a second win coming out of Jersey City, against Siena with a very close score of 145-144. Sophomore Vladislav Sinyagovskii had his third first-place victory where he put up a time of 53.28 in the 100-yard backstroke.
Freshman Mariajose Lopez took first-place in the 1000-yard freestyle, coming in with a time of 10:50.29. Belgium native Raphaelle Gregoire also had a strong race, putting up a time of 1:09.02, which earned her first-place in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Senior Fanny Stromstedt came in right behind her taking second-place and touching the wall at 1:10.87. Lara Milak also came in third place for the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:11.06, allowing the trio of senior Terriers to sweep this event.
MEN’S HIGHLIGHTS:
· Sophomore Dorde Spasic earned a first-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, with an impressive time of 47.74. The Belgrade native also took third-place in the 200-yard freestyle.
· Junior Binald Mahmuti notched a first-place finish in the 100-yard fly with a final time of 54.07. The Junior also notched a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:47.39.
· Junior Kavin Duraku took third-place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.41.
· To close out this meet, the men took second-place in the 400-yard freestyle relay. This relay squad consisted of Andrew Gubarev, Andrej Sokolovski, Micah Wesselhoff, and Spasic came out on top with a time of 3:17.76.
WOMEN’S HIGHLIGHTS:
· At today’s meet. Junior Ana Paula Montes de Oca had impressive results in today’s events she would take part in. To start things off she took first place in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:11.49. She also took third-place in the 100-yard butterfly with 1:02.30.
· Junior Beatriz Gomes Angelo had a great finish to her 500-yard freestyle taking first-place with a time of 5:16.26.
· Sophomore Kayla McKenzie gave it her all against Delaware and took second-place in 1-meter dive. Her final score in the event was 220.40.
· Sophomore Angelina Gonzalez had an impressive second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, touching the wall with a time of 56:99. Hanne Romstad came in right behind her snagging third place.
· The Women had a defining first-place victory which led them to conquering Siena. De Oca, Tina Childress, Gonzalez and Gomes out touched Siena with a final time of 3:45.30.

The Terriers are back in action on Sunday, February 2, as they host the Pioneers of Sacred Heart University for Senior Day at the SFC Aquatic Center for their final regular season meet of the campaign. The meet will begin at 12:30 p.m.

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – In its final home meet of the 2019-2020 season, the Saint Peter’s University swimming & diving teams competed against St. Francis Brooklyn and Siena while celebrating Senior Day on Saturday at the Yanitelli Center.

Top Performances
- In the 200 yard medley relay, Michael Spark, Luke Cillie, Martin Le Pays du Teilleul and Yann Le Gall won the race with a time of 1:36.03.
- Thomas Granet, Dylan Dela Cruz, Troy Pina and Brendan Vieira placed third in the 200 yard medley relay, clocking in at 1:40.52.
- Junior Marie-Christine Geck came in second in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:04.24.
- Clocking in at 10:07.48, Andrew Galarza won the 1000 yard free, finishing over seven seconds before his competition.
- Le Gall finished first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.86.
- Freshman Noah Berlin came in third in the 200 yard freestyle, finishing at 1:48.10.
- In the 100 yard backstroke, Efrat Marom placed first and Natalie Davis placed second with times of 1:00.52 and 1:02.65, respectively.
- Spark and Granet placed second and third in the 100 yard backstroke, clocking in at 55.59 and 55.75.
- Dela Cruz won the 100 yard breastroke with a time of 1:00.72.
- Freshman Brian Coughlin placed second in the 100 yard breastroke, clocking in at 1:02.60.
- Le Pays du Teiulleul and Ferran Martinez placed second and third in the 200 yard fly.
- The Peacocks dominated the 50 yard freestyle, with Cillie, Galarza and Dino Jajcanin taking the top three finishes with times of 22.05, 22.33 and 22.70, respectively.
- Marom won the 200 yard backstroke, clocking in at 2:11.17.
- Cillie and Granet finished first and second in the 200 yard backstroke.
- In the 200 yard breaststroke, Dela Cruz and Coughlin took the top two finishes in the 200 yard breastroke, with times of 2:17.06 and 2:17.41, respectively.
- Coming in first and second in the 500 yard freestyle, Galarza and Berlin clocked in at 4:49.34 and 4:49.98, respectively.
- Both the men’s and women’s quartets won the 400 yard freestyle relay, with Cillie, Le Pays du Teilleul, Galarza and Le Gall finishing at 3:15.70, and Davis, Evangelia Vasilikas, Miranda Yeats and Angel Gabinete finishing at 56.66.

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Siena Swimming & Diving (3-7) improved to 3-1 in MAAC competition this season with a tri-meet sweep in New Jersey, Saturday afternoon. The Saints took down league foe Saint Peter’s, 190-91, while falling to St. Francis Brooklyn, 145-144 at the Vincent J. Yanitelli Center in Jersey City.
The Green and Gold surpassed its dual meet total from the 2018-19 season with the victories, and also remained undefeated against the Peacocks in head-to-head competition.
Among Siena’s event winners on the day was freshman diver Lydia DeLano, who captured both legs of the one-meter diving competition on the day. The Burnt Hills, NY product won the first diving section with a score of 229.55 and the second over two other divers with a 173.80.
The Saints began the meet with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, with the team of freshmen Jessica Shine and Rory Kalac, along with sophomore Abigail Sheridan and junior Shannon Leary posting a time of 1:53.90.
Kalac would go on to win the 50 free with a near personal-best of 25.14, while senior Rachel Brown placed first in the 100 free with a 56.28. Shine continued her dominance this season in the 100 fly, winning the event with a 1:00.13, while Sheridan followed with a 1:00.50.
The battle with the Terriers would come down to the final race, with SFC’s 400 free relay team taking first place to edge out the Saints by a point.
Following its third tri-meet of the season, Siena will return home for its Senior Day meet this coming Saturday. The Saints will welcome in Saint Francis (PA) for dual meet action on Saturday, February 1 at Noon at the Siena Swim Center.
