BALTIMORE, Md. – The Towson University men’s swimming and diving team dominated Loyola in a dual meet Wednesday night.
The Tigers scored 165-128 over the Greyhounds Mangione Pool.
How it Happened
- Owen Robinson, Kenny Afolabi-Brown, Nick McClure and Matt Essing won the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:32.64.
- Drew Munson won the 1650-yard freestyle (16:02.97).
- Ryan Baldino won the 200-yard freestyle (1:40.90), while Brendan Farrar came in third (1:44.80).
- Owen Robinson was victorious in the 100-yard backstroke (50.76).
- Ryan O’Leary came in first in the 100-yard breaststroke (57.77).
- McClure finished in second in the 200-yard butterfly (1:51.37).
- Essing won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.88. Michael Fazio finished in third (21.77).
- Ajani Dorner won the 1-meter dive with a score of 294.97 and Will Canny finished in second (262.27).
- Baldino (46.48) and Fazio (46.90) had a 1-2 finish in the 100-yard freestyle.
- Robinson also saw a first place victory in the 200-yard backstroke (1:53.25).
- O’Leary took second in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:08.77).
- Munson was also victorious in the 500-yard freestyle (4:41.00). Ryan Bookstein took third (4:44.24).
- McClure won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 50.81.
- Canny won the 3-meter dive (274.58) and Dorner finished in second (246.90).

The Tigers have a quick turnaround as they compete this Friday, Jan. 24 on senior day versus Delaware. Towson will honor Matt Essing, Matt Kenney, Ryan O’Leary, Owen Robinson, Tommy Whitman and Hunter Wright after the diving competition and the regular meet.
All actions begins at 2 p.m. with diving and swimming will start at 5 p.m. inside Burdick Hall.
BALTIMORE, Md. – The Towson University women’s swimming and diving team defeated Loyola in a midweek showdown Wednesday evening.
The Tigers defeated the Greyhounds 190-99 inside Mangione Pool.
How it Happened
- The quartet of Maddi Mangum, Jacki Schoening, Maddie Mince and Annemarie Schnoor won the 200-yard medley relay (1:45.15).
- It was a 1-2 finish in the 1650-yard freestyle with Meagan Clark (17:17.27) and Karlee Carminati, respectively.
- The Tigers had the top four finishes in the 200-yard freestyle. Megan Cowan won the event (1:55.49), followed by Kayla Reedy (1:55.71), Parker Schulz (1:56.78) and Alex Diacumakos (1:56.82).
- Towson also had the top four finishes in the 100-yard backstroke as Elise Devlin touched the wall first (58.69), followed by Reagan Martin (59.76), then Meghan Jones (59.79) and Andrea Ducar (1:00.52).
- Schoening captured first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.72).
- Sarah-Margaret Locke won the 200-yard butterfly (2:05.94).
- Another top four finish took place in the 50-yard freestyle with Schnoor coming in first (23.97). Mince (24.55), Hailey Ritter (24.65) and Mangum (24.69) rounded out the top four.
- Christina Coleman kept up her winning streak after a first-place score in the 3-meter dive (254.85).
- Schonnor (51.99), Ava Enriquez (54.07) and Mince (54.27) had the top three finishes in the 100-yard freestyle.
- The Tigers saw another top four finish with Devlin (2:05.64), Diacumakos (2:06.24), Martin (2:06.93) and Gabby Cervone (2:09.02) in the 200-yard backstroke.
- Katie Nunez took third in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:27.03).
- Jones (5:07.84) and Reedy (5:15.12) took 1-2 in the 500-yard freestyle.
- Ducar finished second in the 100-yard butterfly (57.26).
- Towson dominated the 1-meter diving competition with Coleman (278.40), Fiona McIlmail (252.30), Sarah DiGaetano (245.47) and Ashley Sinicropi taking the top four spots.
- Canny won the 3-meter dive (274.58) and Dorner finished in second (246.90).

BALTIMORE – Despite first place finishes from Sung Lee, Max Verheyen, Emma Schouten, Emily Koegl and Elizabeth Walsh, the Loyola University Maryland men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams dropped their meets to visiting Towson University at Mangione Pool on Wednesday afternoon. The Tiger men’s team pulled out a 165-128 decision while the women’s team beat Loyola, 190-99.
For the men’s team, Lee finished first in the 200-fly (1:50.84). He also swam on the 200-medley relay team which finished a very close second to Towson. Towson posted a time of 1:32.64, just ahead of Loyola’s 1:32.68. Conor Rutigliano, Jay Venit and Jimmy Hayburn also swam on the 200-medley relay team.
Verheyen finished first in the 200-breaststroke (2:01.84) and 200 IM (1:52.78). He was also second in the 100-breaststroke (0:57.87). David Sears took third in the 100-breast (0:59.67).
Junior Mark Boran contributed a pair of second place showings for the Greyhounds. He was second in the 100-backstroke (0:52.43) and the 200-backstroke (1:53.96). Rutigliano was third in the 100-back (0:52.56) while Josh Walker took third in the 200-back (1:55.69).
Reid Hussey was the Greyhounds’ top swimmer in the 500-free as he finished second (4:42.07). Basalo took fifth place (4:45.68).
In the 100-butterfly, the Greyhounds took second, third and fourth. Richie Kogut (0:50.88) was second, just ahead of Dylan Maziacz (0:52.67) and Rutigliano (0:53.30).
In the 1650-free, Dylan Champagne took second place (16:09.17) while Alejandro Basolo finished third (16:24.22).
John Nguyen finished second in the 200-free (1:43.84).
Sophomore Jimmy Hayburn placed second in the 50-free (0:21.03) and third in the 100-free (0:47.54).
In the diving events, Jack Still was third for Loyola. He had 246.38 points in the three-meter dive and 241.27 points in the one-meter dive. Michael Culbert also took fourth place in both dives.
Verheyen also turned in an impressive time of 1:52.78 in the 200 I.M.
In the women’s competition, Schouten led the Greyhounds by taking first place in the 200-breaststroke (2:21.83). She also finished third in the 100-breaststroke (1:05.92).
Koegl took first place in the 100-fly with a time of 0:56.70. Senior Annie Hayburn finished fourth in the 100-fly (0:58.25). Hayburn was Loyola’s top performer in the 10-backstroke as she took fifth place (1:00.89).
Elizabeth Walsh finished second in the 200-butterfly (2:07.65) while Molly Davis took third place (2:10.72). Walsh also posted a time of 2:09.66 in the 200 I.M.
In the 200-medley relay, Walsh teamed up with Devin Cronin, Koegl, and Sophie Jahan to take second with a time of 1:46.50.
Cronin had a pair of second place finishes. She was second in the 100-breast (1:04.77) and 200-breast (2:26.16).
Jahan finished fifth in the 50-free (0:24.82) while Lauren Joyce was third in 500-free (5:17.58). Joyce was also fifth in the 200-back (2:10.35).
Claire Bowser finished fourth in the 100-free (0:54.98) while Alden Coyne was fifth (0:56.16).
Jess Stolfi led the Greyhounds by taking third place in the three-meter diving with 226.12 points. In the one-meter diving, Allison Echeverria took fifth place with 225.45 points.
The Greyhound men’s and women’s swimming teams close out the regular season when they host Mount St. Mary’s on Saturday, February 1 at 1:00 p.m.
