GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) —The Green Bay swimming and diving team dominated Saturday afternoon in their victory over Northern Michigan. The women claimed in the win with the final scoring of 174 to 125, while the men also took away the win with the final scoring of 202 to 98.
There were a plethora of victories on the day for the Phoenix both individually and in the team relays.
The highlight of the day for Green Bay was from sophomore diver Miles Rohrbaugh, who swept both the 1M and 3M diving events. Rohrbaugh’s 1M score of 304.20 surpassed the qualifying score for the NCAA Zone meet in March. Additionally, his 3M score of 317.17 was only three points shy of a qualifying score as well.
Freshman Emilie Boll continued her impressive start to her Phoenix career with a pool record time of 1:02:82 in the 100 breast. She also took first place in the 200 breast with a time of 2:23.38 and helped Green Bay win the 400 medley relay and 200 free relay.
Junior Max Boehlein additionally was a perfect four-for-four on the day. Boehlein won the 100 breast with a time of 56.78, the 200 breast with a time of 2:05.28 and the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.52. He also assisted the Phoenix in winning the 400 medley relay.
“I’m very proud with how we competed on the boards and in the pool. Northern Michigan always gives us a quality meet, however, this performance from the team is a great way to start off the year,” stated interim head coach Eddie Gillie. “I’ve been pleased with how we’ve been training and can’t wait to get back in the pool this week to keep things rolling.”

GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Northern Michigan University Women’s Swim and Dive team took on NCAA Division I University of Wisconsin Green Bay Saturday afternoon The Wildcats won five events but ultimately fell 174-125 to the DI Phoenix.
FRESHMAN LEAD THE PACK |
Freshman Maria Arakelian (Livonia, Mich.) won the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:35.31. Following was senior Nicola Pasquire (Bedford, England) taking second at 10:36.29. In the 500-yard freestyle, Arakelian touched second at 5:10.27, again followed by Pasquire who took third with 5:14.51.
Freshman Meritxell Font Cantarero (Girona, Spain) won the 200-yard butterfly for the Wildcats, touching the wall at 2:07.96. Font Cantarero also took second in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 58.53.
In the 200-yard individual medley, freshman Michaela Nelson (Sun Prairie, Wis.) won with a time of 2:09.82. Nelson also touched second in the 200-yard freestyle at a time of 1:54.57.
Freshman Pilar Perello Ferrer (Inca, Spain) took second in both the 100-yard and 200-yard freestyles at a time of 54.45 and 1:56.75 respectively.
DIVING TAKEOVER |
In the 1-meter dive, the Wildcats took the top three spots. Sophomore Mary Grossman (Goshen, Ind.) placed first with 260.77 points. Taking second was freshman Amanda Baird (Riverside, Calif.) with 242.25 points. In third was senior Jamie Kimble (Prior Lake, Minn.) scoring 229.80 points.
In the 3-meter dive, the women took the top two places. Baird took the event with 240.67 points while Kimble took second with 215.01 points.

HITTING THE WALL FIRST |
Freshman Ivan Amillo Escobedo (Valencia, Spain) won the 200-yard freestyle at a time of 1:44.03. Senior Lajos Budai (Kecskemet, Hungary) took the 100-yard backstroke for the Wildcats with a time of 51.62. Budai also touched second in the 50-yard freestyle at 21.50.
DIVING TAKEOVER |
Junior Ondrej Zach (Rudolfov, Czech Republic) placed second in the 200-yard butterfly, touching the wall at 1:57.54. He also touched second in both distance events; the 500-yard freestyle at 4:44.87 and the 1000-yard freestyle at 9:42.36.
Freshman Erikas Kapocius (Ignalina, Lithuania) placed second for the wildcats in two of his events. The first was the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:59.05. He also touched second in the 200-yard backstroke at 1:56.29.
In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of freshman Roberto Camera (Rozzano, Italy), Amillo Escobedo, sophomore Henry Bauer (Howell, Mich.), and Budai took second with a time of 1:25.56. Touching third in the event was the team of junior Amir Saman Khajegi (Mashhad, Iran), senior Maksim Kapustin (Minneapolis, Minn.), sophomore Jon Busse (Stillwater, Minn.), and senior Michael Biclawski (Canton, Ohio), finishing at 1:26.82.
