WHEATON, Ill. – Winning both the 100 fly and 100 back events, Molly Meland headlines the final day of the Wheaton Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 7, after adding her name to the Panther all-time top-10 list in both events. Meland swam the 100 fly in 55.60, which is only 0.36 seconds shy of the school record and sits at No. 3 on the Panther top-10 list while her time of 56.62 in the 100 back places her at No. 7.
The Panthers won the invite out of seven teams with 1,139 points.
The 200 medley relay of Mia Piljevic, Bri Zablocki, Bella Passamani, and Cassandra Hutchins touched the wall first in 1:45.88 edging out teammates Meland, Andrea Bellart, Hannah Pozezinski, and Kelen McDaniels by 0.5 seconds who take second (1:45.95).
After a win in the 200 back yesterday, Giulia Guerra-Montes added another event win in the 400 IM with a time of 4:29.95 while Zablocki finished next in 4:36.38 for second and Riley Melendy touched the wall in 4:40.45 to take fourth.
Sydney Dahl then claimed the win in the 200 free in 1:55.19 while teammate Meghan Jagdfeld finished next in 1:55.68 for second place. Natalie Hey also made a top finish in 1:58.72 to take eighth.
Teammates Bella Passamani grabbed a third-place finish behind Meland in the 100 fly (56.74) while Hannah Pozezinski claimed eighth in 1:00.12.
In the 200 breast, Bellart led the Panthers to a fourth-place finish in 2:28.90 while Angela Kordik touched the wall shortly behind in sixth (2:31.96).
Claiming five of the top eight spots in the 100 back, Piljevic finished second behind Meland in 57.41, Amber Secrist placed third in 57.55, Melendy came in fourth in 58.54, and Alicia Beam finished sixth with a time of 59.13.
The Panthers then grabbed the top three spots in the 500 free. Natalie Hey led the way with a career best time of 24.04 to finish first. McDaniels also claimed a career best time of 24.09 to take second while Hutchins finished third in 24.22.
Madeline Worgull led the Panther distance squad after breaking 18 minutes in the 1650 (17:59.76) for third place. Teammate Gretchen Kraus swam to a 12th-place finish in 18:31.80.
The 400 free relay team of McDaniels, Hutchins, Meland, and Hey closed out the invite with another win with a time of 3:31.85. Teammates Meegan Snyman, Passamani, Kristina Larsen, and Mia Piljevic claimed third in 3:34.63.

The Panthers take a few weeks off of racing before opening up the new year with its first of two home meets in January on Saturday, Jan. 4th, against St. Norbert College.

WHEATON, Ill. – The Milwaukee men’s swimming team wrapped up the Wheaton Invitational on top on Saturday, Dec. 7, finishing first out of seven teams with 959 points from the Lederhouse Natatorium in Wheaton, Ill.
Bailey Bodart led the day with an event win in the 50 free with a time of 20.72. Ryan Hakes finished just behind in 21.19 in fourth.
In a close race, the 200 medley relay of Quinn Yeager, Brandon Niemiec, Ryan Scripp, and Bodart touched the wall in third-place with a time of 1:33.50.
Patrick Kelley continued his strong weekend with a second-place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 4:06.22. Dane Van Allen finished shortly behind to take fourth in 4:11.34.
Danny Larson also claimed a second-place finish in the 200 free with career best time of 1:40.74. Teammates Mason Schoof (1:42.63) and Jonathon Kollen (1:43.28) touched the wall next for the Panthers to finish fifth and sixth respectively.
In a tight 100 fly race with only a spread of two seconds between first and eighth place, Scripp touched the wall second in 50.50 while Jacob Weber claimed fourth in 50.76.
Zach Hammond led the Panthers in the 200 breast with a second-place finish in 2:03.59 while Brandon Niemiec (2:09.97) and Jacob Fase (2:10.21) claimed seventh and eighth.
Tyler Wrasman grabbed a top finish in the 100 back in 52.23 to take third while Yeager (52.67) finished in sixth and Ben Huynh (52.70) claimed seventh.
Four Panthers finished in the top-eight in the 1650 free with Jack Garcia leading the way for Milwaukee with a second-place finish in a career best time of 16:20.66. Andrew Grever finished next in third place (16:27.96) while Dane Van Allen finished in fourth (16:30.12) and Colin Duffy placed sixth (16:35.16).
The 400 free relay team of Larson, Bodart, Hakes, and Appleton closed out the invite with a big win with a time of 3:02.88. Teammates Fase, Kollen, Weber, and Conrad Farrell finished in fourth place in 3:05.77.
