Bronx, N.Y. – (November 22, 2019) – The Fordham swimming & diving team hosted their final meet before Thanksgiving break on Friday night and had a great showing with two wins on the evening and one school record being broken. The Fordham women defeated Stony Brook, 182-111, while the men took down NJIT, 194-102.
The highlight of the evening came from senior Molly Dunn in the one-meter diving event, posting a career-best and winning score of 297.45, qualifying her for the NCAA Zone Diving Regional. Dunn also won the three-meter dive with a score of 246.75.
Fordham had three other women win multiple events, which began with Caitlin McNary taking first in the 1000 freestyle in 10:29.00 and in the 100 freestyle in 53.55 seconds. Clare Culver had the top time in both the 200 (1:53.58) and 500 (5:09.83) freestyle events with Alison Lin taking first in the 200 backstroke (2:06.39) and the 200 IM (2:06.93).
Other winners for the Fordham women were Naima Mackrel in the 100 backstroke (58.59), Hannah McGee in the 200 butterfly (2:05.87) and Michelle Martin in the 50 freestyle (24.39).
In the women’s relays, the 200 medley group of Martin, Lin, Kiara Norris, and Theresa Mullen were first in 1:47.08, while the 200 freestyle relay of Norris, Culver, Paulina Watson, and Mullen placed first in 1:38.29.
In the men’s competition, Fordham posted five season-best performance against NJIT, along with four multi-event winners. Connor Wright, Josh Stegen, Patrick Wilson, and Ethan Murray each won two events on the night, which began with Stegen taking the top spot in the 200 (1:42.92) and 100 (47.04) freestyle events. Wright captured first in the 100 backstroke in 53.39 seconds and the 200 backstroke in a season-best 1:54.65.
Wilson won both breaststroke events, taking first in the 100 breaststroke in a season-best time of 57.48 seconds and first in the 200 breaststroke in 2:07.58. The last dual event winner was Murray, with a season-best time of 1:55.68 in the 200 butterfly and a time of 4:46.55 in the 500 freestyle.
Other event winners included Christopher Sleutjes with a season-best time of 9:50.94 in the 1000 freestyle, Bryce Bollesen in the 50 freestyle (21.60), Kevin Berry in the 100 butterfly (51.84), and Nathaniel Guenther with a season-best time of 1:55.77 in the 200 IM.
In the relays, Fordham was first in both, as Spencer Clarke, Wilson, Casey Sawyer, and Bollesen posted a time of 1:35.05 in the 200 medley relay, while Wilson, Bollesen, Berry, and Stegen recorded a time of 1:24.98 in the 200 freestyle relay.
The Fordham swimming & diving teams are now off until they travel to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania for the Bucknell Invitational, December 6-8.

NEW YORK, N.Y. — The NJIT men’s swimming and diving team completed its final regular season meet of 2019 on Friday evening, falling on the road to the Fordham Rams, 194-102.
Cole Becker led the Highlanders in defeat as the senior claimed wins in both diving events. Becker paced the 3 meter (262.70) and 1 meter fields en route to NJIT’s lone victories.
The Higlanders were runners-up in eight different events, with Joshua Franco (200 Free – 1:43.68; 100 Free – 47.79) and Nicholas Lyons (100 Breast – 58.27; 200 Breast – 2:09.42) picking up a pair of second-place finishes.
NEXT UP
NJIT will wrap up 2019 by taking part in the ECAC Winter Championships, scheduled for December 6-8. The Highlanders are the defending champions of the event after winning the title last December.
The team’s first meet in 2020 will be another road matchup, this time in New Jersey at Monmouth on January 24.

BRONX, N.Y. — For the first time since 2012, a school record has fallen for the Stony Brook swimming and diving team as Michal Liberman (Rosh Haayin, Israel) took down the 100-yard butterfly standard on Friday night at the Col. Francis B. Messmore Aquatic Center. Liberman notched a time of 56.43 seconds which edged Renee Deschenes’ 2011 record of 56.48

“Today was a good day for us as a program. We had an opportunity to race a really good team and learn a lot about ourselves. It shows where we are and where we want to go. We also had an opportunity to celebrate as our first team record was broken since coming back from our hiatus.”
Highlights
- Along with Liberman’s record-breaking 100 fly win, Jessica Salmon (Rexford, N.Y.) also collected two individual victories.
- The sophomore earned wins in the 100-yard breast (1:07.71) and 200 breast (2:28.13). It was the third-straight meet that Salmon has swept the breaststroke events.
- Ava DeMayo (New York, N.Y.) finished second in the 100 breast with a time of 1:10.47.
- Melissa Mungroo (Nanuet, N.Y.) earned a second-place finish in the 200 breast (2:33.63).
- Enda placed second in the 200 fly, finishing with a time of 2:08.40.
- On the boards, Emma DeMottie (Rocky Point, N.Y.) finished third in the three-meter with a score of 182.30.
- In the one-meter, Stephanie Reiter (Howard Beach, N.Y.) placed fourth at 176.95.
- As a team, Stony Brook fell to Fordham, 182-111.
