Winter Juniors Qualifier Kevin O’Dare Sends Verbal Commitment to Purdue

Kevin O’Dare from Huntington Valley, Pennsylvania has announced his intention to swim for Purdue University in 2020-21. He will be a member of the class of 2024 with Coleman Modglin, Ethan Shaw, and Griffin Seaver.

A senior at La Salle College High School, O’Dare took 4th place in the 100 breast at Pennsylvania High School AAA Championships last season. His 56.37 was a personal best and a 3-second improvement over the 59.35 he swam at the 2018 state meet as a sophomore. O’Dare also competed in the 200 IM (1:55.97 for 23rd) and split a 25.34 breaststroke on the 6th-place medley relay. In club swimming with Upper Dublin Aquatic Club, O’Dare is coming off a strong LCM season that saw him improve his PBs in the 50 breast (29.92, PBx0.), 100 breast (1:07.90, PBx1.9), 200 breast (2:36.70, PBx6.0), and 200 IM (2:17.42, PBx2.6) at 2019 NCSA Summer Championship. He finaled in the 50 breast, placing 25th.

Purdue’s breaststroke group is led by Trent Pellini (51.76/1:56.67), who placed 4th in the 100 breast and 15th in the 200 breast at conference last year, Will Schrensky (55.10/1:59.47), and Nicholas Sherman (55.29/1:59.64). It took 55.10/1:58.88 to score in the 100/200 breast and 1:47.41 to get a second swim in the 200 IM at 2019 B1G Championships.
