Minnesota Returns To Pool After Month Off With Minnesota Invite

Minnesota swimming and diving returns to the pool following a month absence from competition. The Maroon and Gold will host the 2nd Annual Minnesota Invitational from Thursday, Nov. 30 — Saturday, Dec. 2 in their first championship format meet of the season. Preliminaries will begin at 9 a.m. each day with the finals set for 5 p.m.

GOPHERS IN THE POLL
In the latest TYR/CSCAA polls, the women’s squad jumped up two spots to rank as the No. 15 team in the nation following a 4-1 start and 3-1 record in Big Ten duals. The men currently rank just outside the top 25, but receiving votes. New rankings will be released on December 6.

Seven Gophers currently rank in the top 10 times in their respective events among Big Ten Swimmers.

Lindsey Kozelsky — 100 breaststroke — 1:00.74 — 4th
Lindsey Kozelsky — 200 breaststroke — 2:12.87 — 9th
Tevyn Waddell — 100 backstroke — 53.25 — 5th

Conner McHugh — 100 breaststroke — 54.47 — 8th

Bowen Becker — 50 freestyle — 20.06 — 9th

B1G TEN WEEKLY HONORS
Senior captain Conner McHugh earned his first collegiate Big Ten weekly honors back on November 8, following impressive finishes in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke. McHugh posted a pair of NCAA B standard times of 54.47 (100 breast) and 1:56.79 (200 breast).

LAST TIME OUT
Both men and women picked up a pair of B1G wins over Wisconsin and Penn State, before falling to No. 3/7 Michigan at home Nov. 3-4. The Gophers recorded an impressive 36 combined personal records over the two day span.

UP NEXT
Minnesota hits the road for the final time, heading to the Aloha State for a dual meet against Hawai’i on January 6. The start time for that meet will be announced in the coming weeks. The Golden Gophers return home on January 13 to host Denver.
