TCU Swim & Dive Set For Big 12 Championships

The TCU swimming and diving team will travel down I-35 for the 2017 Big 12 Swimming and Diving Championship in Austin, Texas, on Feb. 22-25 at the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

Schedule
The championship will begin with the men’s 1-meter dive prelims at 4:30 p.m. CT followed by the 200 medley relay, men’s 1-meter diving and the 800 freestyle relay starting at 6 p.m CT on Wednesday. Preliminary action is slated to begin at 10 a.m. CTeach day while finals will be underway at 6 p.m. CT.
Last Year
The Horned Frog men’s squad placed third, while the women’s team finished fifth overall at the conference championships in 2016. Ford Story was crowned the Big 12 champion in the 100 breast (53.24), and TCU shattered four school records throughout their stint in Austin. Story was the second swimming Big 12 Champion for TCU (Cooper Robinson, 2013).

Carlos Hunnicutt was a part of three school-record performances in his last outing at Texas. Last season, the junior notched a school-record time of 3:39.49 in the the 400 IM. He also broke a 22-year-old school record in the 200 IM with a time of 1:47.46 and was a part of the 800-yard medley relay team that set the school record at 6:33.66.
