Utah Won 10 Events In Route To Victory Over Wyoming

Utah men’s swimming and diving defeated Wyoming this weekend, 171-129, winning 10 events.

Freshman Matteo Sogne took first in the 1,000 free touching in at 9:34.01 and Paul Unger was first in the 100 back (49.66). Sogne would later take second in the 500 free (4:38.04).

In the 200 fly, Luis Macias claimed the top spot touching in at 1:51.46. McKay King was first in the 50 free (20.78) and Liam O’Haimhirgin was first in the 100 free (45.66).

Adding to the Utah win tally were Rahiti De Vos in the 500 free (4:37.09) and Colten Montgomery in the 100 fly (49.94).

On the boards, Connor Cain was first in the one-meter event tallying a score of 315.83. He also took third on the three-meter event (310.88).

A team of Unger, Jack Burton, Montgomery and King took first in the 200 medley relay touching in at 1:29.81. In the 400 free relay, Fernando Cervantes, King, De Vos and O’Haimhirgin teamed together to take first with a time of 3:02.96.

In the 200 IM, Cole Avery took second (1:53.29) with Nolan Rogers following (1:54.22) him in third. Ganem Tebet (200 breast, 2:02.85) and Ethan Dillard (200 breast, 1:51.64; 100 back, 50.06) also took second in their respective events.

The Utes will take a break from competition until the new year. They will host Harvard on Jan. 3 (diving only) and Jan. 7. They also will welcome Denver on Jan. 7.
