UConn Reels in All-American Diver Erin Clifford

Middleton, New York’s Erin Clifford has signed a National Letter of Intent to dive for the University of Connecticut Huskies beginning in the 2017-18 season. Clifford is a senior at Minisink Valley High School, which had a signing ceremony for three athletes on November 9. The school’s press release stated:

Girls Diving Coach Gillian Sutera introduced Erin Clifford, a 4-year varsity letter recipient for Minisink Valley’s Swimming and Diving Program also serving as a captain the past 2 years. Erin has set a new Section 9 record for eleven dives, shattered multiple meet records, pool records, and now holds every Minisink Valley school record for varsity diving. She is a two-time Section 9 champion, and a two-time place finisher in the top 5 at the New York State Diving Championships. Named NISCA/Speedo Girls One Meter Diving All-American last year.

“Erin is an extraordinarily talented athlete and an exemplary student, with a GPA of over 100,” Coach Sutera said. “There is no doubt that Erin has made, and will continue to make, us extremely proud as she embarks on her next endeavor.” Erin signed to dive at Division I level with the Huskies at the University of Connecticut.

Clifford will join swimmers Emma Corby, Georgia Apostolu, and Jennie Novak who have also committed to the University of Connecticut’s class of 2021.
