On day 3 of the 2016 NCAA Swimming & Diving Championships, Louisville’s Kelsi Worrell broke the U.S. Open, NCAA, and American Records in the 100 yard butterfly.
She swam a 49.43 in the race final, which improved upon her 49.81 from last year’s NCAA Championship final as the fastest time ever done in the event.

Louisville’s Kelsi Worrell blasted a new American, NCAA, and U.S. Open Record on Friday night at the 2016 Women’s NCAA Championships. Worrell swam a 49.43 in her last 100 fly as a collegiate swimmer, repeating as the NCAA Champion in this event.
Worrell previously held the record at 49.81, which she posted in finals at last year’s NCAAs. The big difference between tonight’s swim and her 2015 swim came in the 1st 50. She was out in a 23.09 tonight, compared to her 23.58 last year.

Worrell now owns 8 of the top 10 fastest 100 fly times ever swam in the NCAA. In addition, she has 4 of the 5 fastest 100 fly times in history. The only other person on that list isNatalie Coughlin, who swam a 50.01 in 2002. Worrell is the only woman to ever break 50 seconds, and she’s now accomplished that feat 4 times.

If she can hold well her NCAA taper until next week, she should be able to swim at least 57 low there.
wow, to me it looks like she was completely submerged prior to the first turn, which would have been a DQ. But I am not an official so who knows.
Last stroke of the 1st 25 would have been a tough call as an official. Great underwaters!
perhaps, but completely missed the wall. very similar walls like with phelps’ goggles in 2 fly at Beijing…than with 3rd and last wall by 60-70% missed-calculated-estimated strokes went 49.4!? awesome swim! hope this lady can produce gold and wr in rio.
