2021, 2023 Worlds Sites To Be Announced Sunday At World Aquatics Gala

The locations of the 2021 and 2023 FINA World Championships will be announced this Sunday, January 31st at the FINA World Aquatics Gala in Budapest, Hungary.

The gala will be a “Soiree des Etoiles” or “Evening of the Stars.” It will be live-streamed on FINA’s website at 8 pm Central European Time (2 pm Eastern Standard Time).

FINA will also announce its Best Athletes of the Year at the event. Last year’s winners from swimming, open water, diving, and water polo include Chad le Clos, Katinka Hosszu, Cao Yuan, Liu Huixia, Rachelle Simpson, Alan do Carmo, Ana Marcela Cunha, Maggie Steffens, and Filip Filipovic.

“FINA is proud to organize an excellent range of world-class competitions for the six disciplines it represents but also to pay extra attention to the athletes’ needs and ensure they can fulfill their set goals,” said FINA president Dr. Julio C. Maglione. “It is of utmost importance that we dedicate a special evening for the stars because they deserve to receive our deep appreciation for the way they promote our sport.”
