Lehigh Valley Aquatics backstroker Alexa Kutch has verbally committed to Drexel University. She finished 4th overall at the PIAA (Pennsylvania) ‘AAA’ HS State Championships last year in the 100 back, representing Easton High School.

Kutch’s Top Times

  • 100y back – 56.29
  • 200y back – 2:03.06
  • 100m back – 1:04.52
  • 200m back – 2:22.46
  • 100y fly – 58.35

Kutch has rapidly improved in one season’s time. In late winter of 2014, she was just 59.01 in the 100 back and 2:08.92 in the 200 back. Her improvement has certainly been recognized– her 4th place finish at last year’s PIAA Champs earned her a spot on Easton HS’s Wall of Fame.

Kutch will be a big contributor for Drexel next season– she would’ve been their #2 100 and 200 backstroker last year, behind since-graduated Katie Duggan in the 100 and current sophomore Gillian Gress in the 200. The current freshmen class is lacking a backstroke presence, and Kutch could find herself leading the sprint backstroke group as soon as she gets to campus next fall.

At last year’s CAA Champs, Kutch would’ve nearly made the 100 back A final, and would’ve been right outside of contention for the 200 back B final. With another year of improvement, she could be a multi-event scorer in her first year at Drexel.

Kutch is the first reported female commitment to Drexel for next fall.
