With his 200m IM gold medal-winning performance, American Ryan Lochte made history yesterday at the 2015 FINA World Championships by becoming one of only a handful of swimmers to have ever four-peated an event at worlds.

In the video, Lochte comments that the feat is something he will “cherish for the rest of his life.” The 31-year old says “all that hard work and dedication, day in and day out, is paying off.”

Additionally, Lochte states he sees his accomplishment as a valuable stepping stone for what he wants to accomplish in Rio at the 2016 Olympic Games.
