Pedersen and Ottesen Record Top Five Times

The final day of both the Eastern and Western Danish Short Course Championships saw both Rikke Moller Pedersen and Jeanette Ottesen put up times that place them in the top five in the world rankings.

Pedersen won the 200 breaststroke at the Eastern Championships recording a time of 2:21.00. Her time currently ranks fourth in the world. Ottesen took the 100 butterfly posting a time of 56.83 which also currently ranks fourth in the world.

Pernille Blume put up a strong early season result winning the women’s 100 freestyle in a time of 53.87 which currently ranks 15th in the world.

Sarah Bridge took the women’s 200 backstroke in a time of 2:07.72, six seconds ahead of the next competitor, but missed the World Championships qualifying time of 2:07.34 by 38 one-hundredths of a second.

At the Western Championships Kasper Schultz and Louise Dalgaard both took multiple events. Schultz won the men’s 50 backstroke in a time of 26.86 and followed that up by taking the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:01.75. Dalgaard won the women’s 50 breaststroke in a time of 31.72 and then went on to take the 200 breaststroke in a time of 2:29.22. Levisen took the women’s 100 freestyle in a time of 54.84 and finished second to Line Bruun in the 200 IM. Bruun took the event in a time of 2:16.48 followed by Levisen who recorded a 2:17.48.

Kasper Schultz did indeed win the 200 i west Denmark – but the time was 2.01.75 – out in 1.00.44.

That’s something a country the size of Denmark has an a East and West meet. They have made some nice strides in recent years.
