Texas A&M Adds Three Transfers For Men’s Program Including Carter Lancaster From Cal

Texas A&M has added three transfers for the fall with Carter Lancaster arriving from Cal, Mason Francis from Ohio State, and Alexander Tullberg Poulsen from the University of the Cumberlands.

Lancaster was the #7 ranked recruit at the time of his commitment for Cal in fall 2022 before arriving in fall 2024. He finished the last two seasons at Cal’s dual meet against Stanford. His season bests this year came at the Minnesota Invite as he swam a lifetime best 1:46.43 200 fly, season best 1:46.05 200 IM, and a 3:53.34 400 IM.

Lancaster has lifetime bests 1:45.01 200 IM and 3:46.65 400 IM. Logan Brown led the Aggies n the 200 IM with a 1:41.59 while Alejandro Michelena led the 200 fly with a 1:41.96.

Francis arrives after spending one season with Ohio State. He swam numerous lifetime bests at the 2026 Big Ten Championships where he was a member of Ohio State’s non-scoring roster. He swam a 52.28 100 breast and a 47.64 100 back. Logan Brown was also the top 100 breaststroker on the team with a 51.81 while John Simmons led with a 46.77 100 back.

Poulsen spent one season in the NAIA with the University of the Cumberlands. He had a strong showing at midseason with a 19.69 50 free, 43.57 100 free, and a 47.76 100 fly. At the 2026 NAIA Championships, he was 3rd in the 100 fly (47.52), 4th in the 100 free (43.81), and 5th in the 50 free (19.97).

The Texas A&M men finished 9th out of 11 teams at the 2026 SEC Championships and went on to finish 30th at the 2026 NCAA Championships. Logan Brown led the team on the swimming side with four points at NCAAs with a 1:51.88 200 breast for 13th. Diver Emelio Trevino won the NCAA title in the platform event, although head diving coach Jay Lerew has since retired.

D2 and D3 schools will benefit from many of the swimmers looking for new pools. D3 is getting quicker every year.

Plus the good ones don’t get cut often since the school knows what d3 sports are. And no roster limits.

huh, and here I thought Cal doesn’t cut people.

In the era of roster limits, everyone cuts.

I was attempting to call someone out, which they likely won’t see.

I agree with you.

Not sure who you were trying to call out, but tbf to them, this is the first Cal cut I can remember (assuming it actually is one). At least, their only other transfer out was Shackell, which I think we can agree was a bit of an anomalous situation. And that’s with a pretty large men’s team with some guys that weren’t exactly swimming Cal level times.

That’s a pretty big difference than giving guys one semester to become NCAA scorers before kicking them to the curb to bring in someone else.

Dave gets creative with it. “Go take a gap year and come back”

Can I ask who you’re referring to? Or are you just throwing stuff out there with no basis?

Carter might have left since several of his best times are still from HS including his 53 100 Breaststroke and his 400 IM time and the 200 IM is almost the same as he was in HS?

Not sure if it’s true, but I heard a bunch of the Cal team was DSA’ed last year, so they can go above the roster limits. The rules for who qualified to be designated DSA status weren’t very clear, so it was up to the coaches to decide.

Seems to be supported by Cal having 43 men on their roster for the 2025-2026 season.

I think cutting a 1:46 200 fly is different than a 1:32 200 free but I think you’re right everyone is going to be forced to at some point
