2025 World Cup bronze medalist Finn Brooks has moved his training base from Indiana University in Bloomington out to San Diego’s The Race Club. Brooks said, “I’m still working with my coaches from Indiana and representing IU.”
Brooks attended Indiana University from fall 2021 through March 2025. He had a breakout senior season that was highlighted by a 4th place finish in the 100 breast at the 2025 NCAA Championships as he touched in a 50.50. He won the 2025 Big Ten title in the event in a 49.94, which had made him one of five men sub-50 at the time.
Brooks competed at the 2024 US Olympic Trials where he was 6th in prelims of the 100 fly (51.90) before finishing 11th in semifinals with a 52.16. He did not compete at 2025 US Nationals and did not compete after 2025 NCAAs until the 2025 World Cup in the fall.
He swam at all three stops of the 2025 World Cup and was highlighted by a 4th place finish in the 50 breast during the first stop in Carmel. At the second stop in Westmont, he swam to bronze medals in both the 50 breast (25.75) and 50 fly (22.09) and also was 4th in the 100 fly. He followed that up with a bronze medal in the 50 breast at the Toronto stop.
Brooks is the latest swimmer to change their training base from Indiana. Brian Benzing has changed his training base from Indiana to Towson, where he went for his undergraduate career. Open water swimmer Mariah Denigan has moved to Ohio State and reunites with former club coach Norm Wright.
Brooks told SwimSwam, “the opportunity to work out here presented itself and I decided to take it ! I’m still working with my coaches from Indiana and representing IU, but working full time here in San Diego. A lot of what drew me here was the sensors that the race club is developing for stroke analytics. It is really cool what they are able to find when you throw these sensors on, and I’m hopeful that using this technology can take my swimming to the next level. Also Gary sr is an absolute legend and learning from him is an honor. Finally, the weather and access to the ocean were pretty big factors as well i can’t lie. I love surfing and might build some surf sessions into my training program.”
Brooks will be an assistant coach and social media and technology support member of The Race Club staff. Gary Hall Sr, CEO and Head Coach, is an Indiana alum.

Finn, great meeting you a few weeks ago at the Oceanside pool. Enjoy Cali, and have fun with Marcus!
Gary+SD weather = a good move
25.75 50 breast is moving
Ok this is cool. Wonder if he swims by himself
Just stay away from the Marsh club
Why’s that? Marsh is leaving CAL anyway…
