NCAA Champion Gabriel Jett had a very up-and-down experience at the Swim Open Stockholm this past weekend. After logging a personal best in the 200 back (1:58.1), Jett struggled with illness and only managed a 1:53 in the 200 free prelims, not making it back for the A final. Jett prioritized managing his energy as best as possible after that, and the day after, swam the prelim and final of the 200 fly, ultimately taking the win in 1:55.81, a new meet record.

he must’ve been very sick going a 1:53 200 LMC free. He can probably do that in a practice with a drag suit on.

Talking about athletes getting sick, Lukas Martens was originally scheduled to swim at Stockholm, but withdrew due to getting a cold. But he is on the startlist at the Bergen swim festival this weekend, as well as Dare Rose, the pro group at Indiana, Haughey, Steenbergen, Korstanje, Salchow.

For a couple of years, Finland, Sweden and Norway worked their 3 meets as part of a series and I think that it was that if you won an event (ex. 50 Free) at all 3 meets there was a $1500 bonus or something similar to that.
I do not know which meets would be best this time of the year (ex. due to location and timing) but could be a way to draw more top swimmers and also to help with prize money but first I think a little more price money for each meet would be needed.
For a meet like Stockholm open I would like to see 1,500 Euro per event instead of 700 Euro… Read more »

Would be great if they could get Stockholm, Bergen and Berlin as a Series (or another set of 3 hosts)
Sponsors are needed, but if you can get it on TV or Streamed with ad revenue or something similar, maybe it could be done?

Seems like his stroke 200s are really coming along. And his 200M free has been really really solid for over a year now. Other than an off race here and there he’s actually been really strong in LC which bodes well for team USA. I think he’s gonna be really fast this summer on home soil.
