2026 SPEEDO CANADIAN OPEN

Today is the final day of the 2026 Speedo Canadian Open Championships, and the prelims session set swimmers up well for tonight’s finals with three different meet records falling.

The first meet record of the session came in the 100 butterfly when Ole Eidam, who trains at Michigan and swims internationally for Germany, swam 52.39 to earn the top seed by about a second over Eric Ginzburg‘s 53.43. He also took a tenth off Finlay Knox’s 52.47 record from 2024.

Eidam also won the 50 freestyle prelims, swimming 22.72 to stop the clock just a tenth ahead of Yuri Kisil‘s 22.83.

The men’s 100 breast saw Oliver Dawson swim 1:00.42 to set the 2nd record of the session, taking half-a-second off the 1:00.91 that Knox swam also at the 2024 meet.

Knox himself did not break any meet records this morning, but earned the top seed in the 200 IM with his 2:05.57, which is just over four seconds off the meet record time of 2:01.02 from 2024.

Finally, Taylor Ruck continued her record-breaking streak in the 50 free, swimming 25.11 to knock four tenths off the 25.53 that Delia Lloyd swam in 2024.

Ruck will also be the top seed in the women’s 100 butterfly at the start of the final session.
