Pleasanton hosted the SCY Spring Age Group Championships for the Pacific Swimming LSC, and the Santa Clara Swim Club came out on top of the overall rankings with 1825.5 points to the Pleasanton Seahawks’ 1535.5.
There were a number of top swims at the meet, but one of the highlights was San Ramon Valley Aquatics Club’s Ayden Tan. The 13-year-old went on a NAG record spree last summer before he turned 13 in the fall, and he is already making his mark on the all-time 13-14 leaderboards.
In the 100 backstroke, Tan swam a lifetime best 49.25 to earn the win marking about a second dropped this season after he came into the year at 51.11 from January of 2025. This swim makes him the 2nd fastest 13-14 in the event this season, and it moves him up to 18th all-time in the age group.
Daniel Diehl is the current NAG record holder about two seconds ahead of Tan with the 47.44 he swam in October of 2020.
Tan was the overall 13-year-old boys high point award winner, scoring 75 individual points to come in two points ahead of Pleasanton’s Leonardo Linares Danzos, who scored 73 points. He won the 50 free (21.40), 100 free (46.86), 50 back (23.22), 100 back (49.25), 50 fly (22.73), and 100 fly (50.07), and he finished 2nd in the 50 breast (28.51). Tan set new personal bests in the 50 free, 100 free, 100 back, and 50 breast.
There were a few other swimmers who made their way up the current season rankings in their events.
Megan Chen, the 10 & Under girls High Point Award winner from Pleasanton, won seven individual events and currently sits in the top 10 this season for 10 & Under girls in four of the seven events.
She moved up to 5th in the 200 freestyle, touching in 2:05.84 for a full second drop from her previous best 2:06.98 that she swam at the beginning of March.
