6-Time State Champ Bindi Verbally Commits to Florida Gators

Tori Bindi Florida Swim6-time Florida High School State Champion Tori Bindi has verbally committed to the Florida Gators. That gives Gregg Troy’s women’s team their 6th swimming verbal commitment of the fall so far, which already matches the 6 swimming freshmen they have this fall – and we’re still 6 weeks from the open of the early signing period.

Bindi, who swims for Club Sailfish and Gulf Breeze High School in Florida’s panhandle, is primarily a sprint freestyler. She’s a perfect 3-for-3 in both the 50 free and the 100 free in Florida’s class 2A, and this November will look to go for a clean sweep for her high school career.

Best times in yards:

  • 50 free – 23.24
  • 100 free – 50.29
  • 200 free – 1:50.31
  • 100 fly – 57.12
  • 200 IM – 2:05.61
  • 400 IM – 4:35.15

Bindi was phenomenal as a high school freshman (and the summer after) and has carried that success through her high school career. She’s made some small short course improvements since then (two-tenths drop in the 200, 1 second in the 100), but hasn’t gone a best time in the 50 or 100 freestyles in long course or short course since November, 2013.

The Florida Gators have attractive a versatility of talents and specialties in this class, with Bindi being the second sprint freestyler. She’s a little better in the 50 and 100 free than fellow commit Kelsey Dambacher, but Dambacher has a little more endurance and a better 200.

The other 5 Florida women’s commits so far:

Florida W Kelly Fertel FL Gulliver Preparatory School
Florida W Kelsey Dambacher VA Cosby High School
Florida W Laura Rodríguez Cao Spain
Florida W Niki Urquidi FL Gulliver Preparatory School
Florida W Savanna Faulconer SC J. L. Mann High School
