Jackson Davis has verbally committed to swim for the University of South Carolina’s class of 2024.

Jackson Davis of Charlotte, NC has announced his decision to swim at the University of South Carolina beginning in the fall of 2020.

“I am more than excited to announce that I have verbally committed to the University of South Carolina for Fall of 2020,” Davis said of his commitment. “USC has an incredible Business School, and an awesome Swim and Dive Program where I know I can continue to reach my education and swimming goals.

The strong leadership that exists and hard working mentality was just what I was looking for in a team! Thank you to my parents, teammates, teachers, and all of my coaches for their support! Can’t wait to be a Gamecock!”

In February of 2019, Davis competed at the NCISAA Division I State Championships. He and his Charlotte Latin High School teammates took home the second-place trophy behind Cary Academy. Davis contributed individual points to the team’s success by earning the gold medal in both the 50 and 100 free. He powered to the wall 1.8 seconds ahead of the next swimmer in the 100 and was able to out touch the prelims top seed in the 50 free for the victory. He earned two more gold medals in the relays, leading off the backstroke leg of the medley relay, and closing the 400 free relay.

Most recently, Davis was a 4-time finalist at the North Carolina Swimming LC Senior Championships. Representing SwimMAC Carolina, Davis placed 5th in the 50L free and 100L back, 6th in the 200L back, and 8th in the 100L free.

Top SCY Times:

  • 100 back – 50.57
  • 200 back – 1:50.82
  • 50 free – 21.39
  • 100 free 46.69

Davis will be the team’s second fastest 100 backstroker behind Nathan Walton and their fastest 200 backstroker, as both Kevin Liu and Cody Bekemeyer will have graduated by then. In the 2020-2021 season, Davis will be training alongside fellow backstroker Eli Tarabocchia.
