2nd Gen NCAA Swimmer Isaiah Tucker Announces Verbal Commitment to Princeton for 2026-27

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Isaiah Tucker from Kennesaw, Georgia, has announced his verbal commitment to the admission process* at Princeton University. He will head north to New Jersey in the fall of 2026.

“I’m incredibly excited to announce my commitment to the admissions process to continue my academic and athletic career at Princeton University! This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering support of my coaches, along with my family, friends, and teammates who have pushed and supported me every step of the way. A huge thank you as well to Coach Matt and the entire Princeton coaching staff for this amazing opportunity. Go Tigers 🐅”

Tucker is a rising senior at Kennesaw Mountain High School. He won the 100 fly (47.52) and 100 back (48.21) at the 2025 GHSA 5A State Championships. Last year, as a sophomore, he won the 100 fly (49.42) and placed 5th in the 100 back (52.08) at the GHSA 7A State Championships.

Tucker does his year-round swimming with Direct Current Swimming. He is a Summer Nationals qualifier in the 100 back and 100 fly and a Summer Juniors qualifier in the 200 fly. In March, he competed at the Georgia Swimming Central Divisional Championship, where he won every event he entered and took home new PBs in the 50 free, 100/200 back, 200 fly, and 200/400 IM.

He kicked off 2025 long course season with new PBs in the 50/100 free, 50/100 back, 50 breast, and 200 IM. He is entered in 5 individual events at the 2025 Speedo Junior National Championships in Irvine.

  • 50 free – 20.45
  • 100 free – 45.49

Tucker’s father swam collegiately at Virginia Military Institute (VMI). He was a 4x Indiana high school state champion at Carmel High School and swam year-round with Carmel Swim Club. His mother was a synchronized swimmer at Indiana University.

He told SwimSwam, “Some interests I have outside of the pool are pickleball, golf, basketball, and thrifting. I am also a big artist; I create a lot of ceramic art out of clay.”

Tucker will join the Princeton class of 2030 with Peter Vu, Michael Geh, and Yury Kuzmenko. His best times would have scores at the 2025 Ivy League Men’s Championships in the ‘B’ finals of the 100 back, 100 fly, and 200 fly.

Best SCY times:

  • 100 back – 47.52

  • 100 fly – 47.52
  • 200 fly – 1:46.74
  • 200 IM – 1:52.02
  • 50 free – 20.45
  • 100 free– 45.49
  • 200 free – 1:39.86

*Note: A verbal commitment between an Ivy League coach and a prospective student-athlete is not an offer of admission, as only the Admission Office has that authority. The coach can only commit his or her support in the admission process. Ivy League Admission Offices do not issue “Likely Letters” before October 1 of the prospective student-athlete’s senior year of high school. The Likely Letter, while issued after an initial read of the student’s application, is not an offer of admission to the university.

If you have a commitment to report, please send an email with a photo (landscape, or horizontal, looks best) and a quote to [email protected].

Great to see a good kid and an athlete who will be able to thrive in a great team. Seeing Isaiah grow from a wee kiddo to towering over me has been a pleasure as is his swimming career, undoubtedly will grow as much as he has. Take care of this guy Princeton, he’s gonna be fun.

Here’s hoping his career can be nearly as legendary as those of the twins, Josh and Jeremy Glantz. To paraphrase the film “Good-bye Columbus,” “it will be a long time before Tiger fans forget them.”

How does this work? Has Princeton told him already he’s gonna get in? I’m always a little confused on how the admissions process works for athletes at Ivies and Stanford.

Athletes at Ivy League schools receive likely letters, indicating that they will almost certainly be admitted when they apply in the fall. It’s non-binding and caveats apply, since the likely letter can be revoked if the athlete messes up in some way (e.g., they tank their grades or get in trouble somehow), but those are pretty rare.

This was our experience with Ivy recruitment. Before the coach can offer you a spot on the team, Admissions will do an academic pre-read of your high school transcript and test scores. Once you verbally commit, you apply early decision/early action (or regular if you committed late). After you apply, you will get a likely letter from Admissions if your application meets their expectations from the pre-read (e.g. don’t submit a terrible essay or start flunking classes). You will get your official acceptance when early decision/early action decisions come out.

Ivy’s also have a system not unlike scholarships, where they are allowed to “help” a certain number of athletes get admitted every year. Their grades still have to be too notch, but not necessarily in the top 1%.
