2022 FINA SHORT COURSE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS

This post contains the results for the SwimSwam Pick’em contest for day five of the 2022 Short Course World Championships in Melbourne. There were a few less finals than on day four, which of course results in lower scores for the day. Here are the World Champions from day five of the meet:

  • Women’s 4×50 medley relay: Australia – 1:42.35
  • Men’s 4×50 medley relay: Italy – 1:29.72
  • Men’s 800 free: Gregorio Paltrinieri (Italy) – 7:29.99
  • Women’s 400 IM: Hali Flickinger (United States) – 4:26.51
  • Men’s 400 IM: Daiya Seto (Japan) – 3:55.75
  • Women’s 50 free: Emma McKeon (Australia) – 23.04
  • Men’s 50 free: Jordan Crooks (Cayman Islands) – 20.46

Honestly, it was a pretty tough day for those of us who are entered in the contest. There were seven swimmers who finished in the top four on day five that none of the contestants had chosen to finish in the top four. Here is a summary of the swimmers who finished in the top four that no one selected to score points for Pick’ems.

  • Jordan Crooks – men’s 50 free gold medalist
  • Sara Franceschi – women’s 400 IM silver medalist
  • Waka Kobori – women’s 400 IM bronze medalist
  • Shogo Takeda – men’s 800 free 4th place
  • Szebasztian Szabo – men’s 50 free 4th place
  • Julie Jensen – women’s 50 free 4th place

That being said, there were entrants who still had a good showing on day five. The winner of day five was screen name “swimwild13,” who managed to pick up 82 points. Impressively, swimwild13 was perfect on the women’s 4×50 medley relay selections, which resulted in 22 points alone. They also got gold, silver, and bronze correct in the men’s 4×50 medley relay, marking another 18 points. That means in total swimwild13 picked up 40 points off day five’s relays. Congratulations!

Here are the results from day five:

Screen name “n.o_o.dles” is leading the overall scoring for the second day in a row. “n.o_o.dles” had a rough day five, only scoring 46 points, but even so, they still lead the contest by five points. “swimwild13” has now moved into seventh place after their excellent day five performance.

Here are the overall standings through day five:

Did mine not get entered in?? If so, I’m completely fine with it because I’m sure it would’ve been bad this go around. Lol!
