Out of Region 3, the Barron Collier boys look strong with top state seeds in the 200 medley relay (1:34.83) and 400 free relay (3:06.84). The team is led by junior Mason Laur, who won the region and leads the state in the 200 IM (1:50.06) and 100 fly (49.51).

The Region 1 boys’ 200 IM champ, Chiles’ Hayden Kwan, is seeded two seconds behind Laur on the state psyches at 1:52.81. Kwan, however, is the lone sub-50 swimmer for the boys 100 back, leading at 49.91.

Region 3 double champ Lukas Cote of St. Petersburg leads both the boys 200 free (1:40.09) and 100 free (46.04). Behind Cote is a star-studded field of swimmers looking to make a competitive state final.

The second seed in the 100 free is Barron Collier’s Andrew Garner, who took second to Cote at regions with a 46.30. Garner is also the second seed in the 100 breast with his Region 3 winning time of 57.34. The state leader in the 100 breast is Doral Academy’s Carlos Nava (56.23), who is also seeded 5th in the 100 free (46.99).

Seeded second in the 200 free to challenge Cote is Region 4 double champ Andres Wong (1:41.44). The Belen senior is also third in the competitive 100 free final with his seed time of 46.49.

On the girls’ side, Fort Myers’ Olivia McMurray led Region 3 in the 200 IM (2:04.28) and 500 free (4:54.94), which are also at the top of the state psych sheets. Yet behind McMurray at the region meet was a Sarasota 2-3-4-5 finish, where all 4 swimmers broke 5 minutes and are all seeded in the state top 8.

Just as male counter-part Cote, Countryside freshman Summer Cardwell is the top state swimmer with her Region 3 winning times in the 200 free (1:50.62) and 100 free (51.67). However, Sarasota junior Mercedes Traba is seeded second place in the 200 free (1:51.60) behind Cardwell as well as in the 500 free (4:55.86) behind McMurray.

Leading the girls 100 fly/back events with a pair of 55s is Osceola’s Clara Williams. In the 100 fly, Williams won Region 3 with a 55.42, ahead of Seminole freshman and Region 3 runner-up Carissa Rinard (56.08). In the backstroke, Williams leads with a 55.89, ahead of Region 1 champion Lily Bradford of Mosley (56.44).
