2018 TYR Pro Swim Series – Mesa: Andrew Scratches 100 Back on Day 2

2018 TYR PRO SWIM SERIES – MESA

We’re on to day 2 of the 2018 TYR Pro Swim Series stop in Mesa, where swimmers are set to compete in prelims of the 100 back, 200 fly, 100 breast, 100 free, 200 IM, and 800 free. Among the notable scratches this morning are Michael Andrew, Tom Shields, Blake Pieroni, and Madisyn Cox. Andrew has scratched out of the 100 back, but will still swim in today’s 100 breast. Shields, Pieroni, and Cox won’t likely make an appearance at this meet. They scratched out of their events yesterday as well.

Also of note, 5-seed Conor Dwyer is still entered in the 100 free, but he may not be swimming the event this morning. His instagram account seems to indicate he flew home after scratching the 200 free final last night. He’s also still entered in the 200 IM, where he’s the 3rd seed.

SIGNIFICANT DAY 2 PRELIMS SCRATCHES:

  • W. 100 back: #4 Matea Samardzic
  • M. 100 Back: #8 Michael Andrew
  • M. 200 Fly: #3 Tom Shields, #5 Jonathan Gomez
  • W. 100 Breast: #6 Riley Scott, #8 Rachel Bernhardt, #9 Madisyn Cox
  • M. 100 Free: #2 Blake Pieroni, #4 Simonas Bilis
  • W. 200 IM: #2 Madisyn Cox, #7 Riley Scott
