2016 U.S. Winter Nationals: NCAP, Indiana Win Team Battles

2016 U.S. WINTER NATIONALS

With the 2016 U.S. Winter Nationals now complete, the winning teams in the points battles have been named. USA Swimming broke things down into a few different categories at this meet. They’ve separated things so the club teams’ scores are separate from the college team scores. They also listed team scores in a combined category (men and women) for club teams and another combined category for college teams.

Nation’s Capital (NCAP) won the club team category on both the men’s and women’s sides. The men picked up 190 points for a 26-point edge over Dynamo Swim Club (164), while the women had 208 points to outscore runner-up Dynamo (158) by 50 points. Together, they won the combined club category with 398 points.

Similarly, Indiana won the college team battle for the men’s, women’s, and combined categories. The women picked up 377.5 points ahead of 2nd place UNC (321.5), while the men had 357 points to runner-up Minnesota’s 325. In the combined category, the Hoosiers’ 734.5 points put them over 250 points ahead of any other team.

Editor’s note: international swimmers points are not included in their teams’ totals, even though they were permitted in championship finals.

Was wondering how it was that close in the college scores, then realized they do not count foreign points scored.
