Australian Olympians Melanie Schlanger and Christopher Wright had busy summers. Both competed at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the Pan Pacific Championships on the Gold Coast.
Schlanger won gold at both events swimming on the women’s 4 x 100 freestyle relay while Wright finished eighth in both the 50 and 100 butterfly in Glasgow and sixth in the 100 butterfly at the Pan Pacific Championships.
Although those competitions were important events, Saturday was by far the highlight of their summer. It was on Saturday that Schlanger and Wright, who have been dating since 2010, were married.
Both shared moments from the evening on different social media sites:

Schlanger posted her vows on both her Facebook page and her Instagram:
“In you I have found the love of my life, and my closest, truest friend.
Loving what I know of you and trusting what I do not yet know.
I will cherish the opportunity to grow with you, getting to know the person you will become and falling in love a little more every day.
I promise to treat you with love and devotion, honour and respect.
I will be yours in times of plenty and in times of want, in times of joy and in times of sorrow, during the triumphs and the challenges.
I promise to support you in your goals and stand along side you as we face life’s obstacles together.
I give you my hand, my heart and all of my love from this day forward.”
Their were a few other notable athletes included in the wedding party; Alice Tait, Leisel Jones, Christian Sprenger, Gregor Tait and Michael Jackson.
After the wedding Schlanger and Wright headed to Tahiti for their honeymoon.
Absolutely beautiful wedding pics. Mel and Chris, wishing you the best for your future together.
Thank you for posting this, SwimSwam, I enjoyed it, but please correct the spelling of Melanie’s name in the title; it should be “Schlanger”, not Schangler. I almost didn’t read it because I’d never heard of a swimmer by that name. 😉
Good luck to the happy newlyweds!
