Zoe Skirboll Gets 2nd NAG: Ties Lia Neal’s 10&U Record in 50 Free at NASA Showcase

Ten-year-old Zoe Skirboll of Pine-Richland Aquatics added her name to the National Age Group record list for a second time this weekend, swimming at 2015 NASA 14-Under Single Age Showcase Classic in Clearwater, Florida. Skirboll broke the girls’ 10-and-under 100 free mark on Friday with 54.89; on Saturday she became the second ten-year-old girl in history to go 24.90 in the 50, sharing that honor with Lia Neal.

Coming into the meet, Skirboll’s fastest 50 yard free time was 25.41. She went 25.29 in prelims, then blazed a 24.90 to win the final.

Neal went 24.90 in December 2005 as a ten-year-old at Asphalt Green Unified Aquatics, and has held the record alone for nearly ten years.

You can find full results of the meet on Meet Mobile, or on the live results page here.

I’m guessing that suit is a little faster than whatever suit 10 year old Lia Neal was wearing in 2005.

Still doesn’t take away the talent both ladies possess in the pool.

The suit is incidental. And TYR is not the fastest suit out there anyway.

Zoe is having a fantastic meet, and not just in freestyle. She is talented and dominant in every stroke. And her smile and self confidence are priceless! Go Zoe!

An awesome time is an awesome time– and, at 10, it’s impressive. Let’s leave negativity out of it and celebrate a young girl for her accomplishment! Well done!

Here’s an idea… when deciding on whether or not to click on a link talking about the accomplishments of a 10 year old… don’t.

C’mon… the suits are what they are. Get. Over. It. We aren’t going to race in practice suits. Move. On.

Leas suit was faster than Amanda Weir’s, whose suit was faster than Dara Torres’, whose suit was faster than Jill Sterkel’s, who’s suit was faster than Supply Woodhead’s… etc. etc.

Markster. They’re 10. They’re amazing. Move along.

Looks like the girl in the lane next to her has the same suit. Sounds like sour grapes Markster! Go Zoe Go. Keep bringing the action and having fun.

Way to go Zoe! You made your dad and all of his friends who follow you proud! Keep on swimming! And to all of the haters…you are just jealous!

Congratulations Zoe! That is crazy fast for a 10 year old! Keep it up and have fun!
