Orlando, Florida’s Delaney Carey signed a National Letter of Intent during the Early Signing Period, committing to swim for Rutgers University in the fall of 2017.

“Rutgers has a combination of outstanding academic programs as well as an incredible swim team. The team culture there is amazing and I already feel like I am a part of the family. I’m honored that I will have the opportunity to work with such an experienced coaching staff and I can’t wait to see what the next four years will have in store. Go Scarlet Knights!!”

Carey attends Olympia High School in Orlando. She represented the Titans at the FHSAA Class 4A State Championship last November, finishing third in the 100 breast (1:04.67) and swimming the breaststroke leg on the fifth-place OHS medley relay. She competes year-round with YMCA of Central Florida. At the recent YMCA Short Course National Championships, she placed fourth in the 200 breast and fifth in the 100 breast, picking up best times in both events, as well as the 200 IM.

Her top times include:

  • 100 breast – 1:03.15
  • 50 breast – 30.92
  • 200 IM – 2:10.12
  • 400 IM – 4:37.51

Carey will join the Rutgers University class of 2021 with fellow commits Lexi Babovac and Lily Black.
