Fitter and Faster Swim Clinics is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Audrey McDonald from Park City, Utah has announced her intention to swim for San Diego State next fall. She will join the class of 2024 with fellow verbal commits Jessie McMurray and Mai McKenna. McDonald is a senior at Park City High School and swims year-round for Park City Swimming.

“I’m so stoked to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic & academic career at San Diego State University!! I’d like to thank my parents, friends, coach’s for helping me along the ride & the sdsu girls for making it feel like home. here’s to the next 4 years!! GO AZTECS!!❤️” [sic]

McDonald specializes in freestyle, and the longer the distance the better. She capped off the 2019 long-course season with victories in the 200 free (2:04.97), 400 free (4:25.46), 800 free (9:08.04), and 1500 free (17:29.73), and a third-place finish in the 200 fly (2:20.84), at Western Zone Senior Championships in Clovis. In short-course season, she swam the 200/500/1650 freestyle events at Winter Juniors West, finishing 21st in the mile and going best times in the 1650 and the100 back (time trials). Her best times in the 50/100/500 free came in March at Phoenix Sectionals where she finished among the top-8 in the 500 free and the top-16 in the 100/200/1000/1650.

San Diego State won the 2019 Mountain West Conference championship title. They weren’t as strong in distance free as in other events; not one Aztec finished in the top-8 of the 200/500/1650 freestyle events. Their top scorers in distance events were Julia Wright (11th in the 1650, 9th in the 500), McKenna Meyer (14th in the 1650), and Mia Ryan (17th in the 500, 9th in the 200). While Meyer is in her final year of eligibility, McDonald will spend two years with Wright and Ryan.

Top SCY times:

  • 500 free – 4:57.37
