Austin Sorg of Graytown, Ohio has announced his commitment to continue his academic and athletic careers at Pitt beginning in fall 2026.
Sorg swims for Rocket Swim Club and raced at Winter Juniors East this past weekend. He finaled in the 200 fly, swimming a 1:47.32 for 19th. That was a lifetime best by over two seconds as he entered the meet with a lifetime best 1:49.53 from last year’s Winter Juniors meet. He also swam to lifetime bests in the 100 back (49.46) and 100 free (45.17).
He is currently in his senior year at Oak Harbor High School. Back in February, he swam to 2nd place finishes in both the 100 fly and 200 IM. He touched in a 47.80 in the 100 fly and a 1:50.26 200 IM, both of which stand as his best times.
Sorg’s Best SCY Times Are:
- 100 fly: 47.80
- 200 fly: 1:47.32
- 200 IM: 1:50.26
- 50 free: 20.28
- 100 free: 45.17
The Pitt men finished 10th out of 15 teams at the 2025 ACC Championships in its 3rd season under head coach Chase Kreitler. So far this season, Julian Koch has made huge strides and has highlighted the fall for the team as he posted a school record 41.15 in the 100 free at midseason, a time that sits tied for 4th in the NCAA so far this season. Koch also leads the team in the 100 fly with a 45.43 that he swam during a dual meet.
It took a 46.21 100 fly, 1:44.27 200 fly, and a 1:44.70 200 IM to earn a second swim at the 2025 ACC Championships. Pitt scored zero points in the 100 fly and 200 fly, so some improvement from Sorg to score would be big for the team.
Sorg will arrive next fall as a member of the class of 2030 along with Lincoln Hoffman (back/free) and Cinco Perez (IM/distance free).
