Western State Colorado hires former Zona assisstant Geoff Hanson as new interim head coach

Western State University Colorado has picked up a familiar name to fill its coaching opening: former Arizona and Wisconsin assistant Geoff Hanson.

Hanson coached under Eric Hansen at Wisconsin, then followed Hansen to Arizona. But he left Zona for undisclosed reasons at the end of 2013. Western State was just reinstated two years ago, and is still working its way into contention in the conference. The Western State women were 5th in the RMAC last year. Former head coach Brad Smith left for Binghamton over the summer, opening the door for Hanson.
