Utah Divers Prepare for U.S. Olympic Team Trials

INDIANAPOLIS – A pair of Utah divers, Jacob Crayne and Amanda Casillas, will represent the Utes at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.

Both student-athletes will begin competition on Monday in the preliminaries with Crayne taking part in the 3m springboard and Casillas participating in the 10m platform. The semifinals for both events will be held later in the day with the top 12 advancing tonext Saturday’s finals.

“I’m really proud of Amanda and Jake and at the same time, very excited to see them compete at the U.S. Olympic Trials,” head diving coach Richard Marschner said. “Getting to this level is a testament to their incredible work ethic. They have achieved so much in their time at Utah. Three years ago, Amanda did not compete in the 10m and now she is one of the nation’s elite. Jake’s improvement has been nothing short of amazing and this will be a great capstone to his diving career.”

Casillas took seventh on platform at NCAA Zones with a total score of 519.20. She finished 27th at the NCAA Championships in the same event. At NCAA Zones, Crayne took first on the three-meter with a total score of 821.85 He had the second-best score for any Pac-12 competitor in the event at the NCAA Championships.

The semifinals of the Olympic Trials will be televised at 7 p.m. ET on NBCSN and the finals will be on NBC with the men scheduled for 4:30 p.m. ET and the women for 8 p.m. ET.
