COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The Mountain West announced on Tuesday athletes of the week for women’s swimming & diving. UNLV’s Ava Olson was tabbed the MW Swimmer of the Week, Wyoming’s Alicia Gonzalez was named the MW Diver of the Week and MW Freshman of the Week honors went to Nevada’s Moji Pholjamjumrus.
MOUNTAIN WEST SWIMMER OF THE WEEK
AVA OLSON, UNLV
Junior, Tulare, California/Tulare Union HS
• Collected two top-three finishes in a dual meet against No. 18 Arizona State with times that were in the top five nationally.
• Posted a second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:58.35, which ranked as the fourth-fastest time in the country last weekend.
• Finished third in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:52.99, which ranked as the fifth-fastest time in the country last weekend.
• Additionally, placed seventh in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:05.78.
MOUNTAIN WEST DIVER OF THE WEEK
ALICIA GONZALEZ, WYOMING
Senior, Canary Islands, Spain/Salesianos School
• Finished in the top five on all three boards at the Front Range Invitational at Air Force’s Cadet Natatorium.
• Helped lead the Cowgirls to a third-place finish after winning the 3-meter springboard (284.35), surpassing the NCAA Zone qualifying standard.
• Added a fourth-place finish on the 1-meter springboard (241.90) and finished fifth in platform (187.80).
• This is her first MW Diver of the Week selection of the season and the ninth weekly honor in her career.
MOUNTAIN WEST FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK
MOJI PHOLJAMJUMRUS, NEVADA
Swimmer, Bangkok, Thailand/Southport State HS (Gold Coast, Australia)
• Helped lead Nevada to a dual win over Cal State East Bay with three top-three finishes in first collegiate meet.
• Took first in the 100-yard freestyle, clocking in at 52.99.
• Placed second in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.61.
• Finished second in the 100-yard individual medley with a time of 59.61.
• Time in the 100 IM ranked as the eighth-fastest time in the country last weekend.

LAS VEGAS (UNLVRebels.com) – UNLV women’s swimming junior Ava Olson was named the Mountain West Swimmer of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
A native of Tulare, California, Olson collected two top-three finishes in a dual meet against No. 18 Arizona State. The Scarlet & Gray freestyle specialist reeled in a second-place finish in the 1000 free with a time of 9:58.35. In the 500 free, she posted a third-place finish behind a time of 4:52.99. Additionally, Olson placed seventh in the 200 IM (2:05.78).
Currently, her 1000 free time is the seventh fastest in the nation, while her 500 free time ranks 11th.
UP NEXT: The Rebels will return to competition when they host BYU in their home-opening dual meet Friday, Nov. 7.
