Tennessee will host Duke this Friday morning into the afternoon for a one-day meet rather than a two-day meet that was scheduled for Friday evening and Saturday morning and into the afternoon. The meet has been changed due to the weather forecast in Knoxville.
The meet will now begin at 11 am EST on Friday morning with doors opening at 10 am EST.
This is the second weekend in a row in which weather has impacted dual meets, including the Tennessee vs Georgia meet last weekend that took place at Georgia. That meet was moved up a day, originally scheduled for this past Saturday before moving to last Friday.
As of 5 PM EST on Wednesday January 28th, the time of publishing, the weather forecast for Knoxville, Tennessee shows “watching a winter storm warning” during the day on Saturday. There is ~50% chance of snow with snow accumulations of less than one inch. The high is expected to be 22 degrees.
Friday’s timing will allow for Duke to travel home Friday evening as Duke’s campus is just over a five hour drive from the University of Tennessee.
The women’s side of the meet is set to be a top 25 showdown between the #9 ranked Lady Vols and the #16 ranked Duke Blue Devils. The Tennessee men are ranked #9 while Duke is unranked.

Very wise decision on the part of both schools. Please stay safe, swim fast and enjoy a great competition – VFE (Vol for eternity).
