Ben Hallock was tabbed as Player of the Year and John Vargas was named Coach of the Year after leading Stanford to the NCAA men’s water polo title.
There was no surprise at the top of the final collegiate men’s water polo poll of the season as NCAA Champion Stanford earned the #1 spot.
Stanford had to wait 17 years between its 10th and 11th men’s water polo NCAA titles, but a 13-8 win over host #5 Pacific on Sunday ended that drought.
Collegiate men’s water polo regular season play wrapped up with 19 matches, including two Top 20 upsets and two overtime affairs.
Stanford held down the #1 spot for the second straight week after besting #3 Pacific 11-8, while Fordham moved up to #17 with an upset win over Cal Baptist.
The 2018 CIF-Southern Section psych sheets are out for all four divisions. Ella Ristic (pictured) is seeded #1 in the 100 free and #2 in the 200 free.
