One of the headliners of the Kentucky 13 & Over Championships in Danville was Stanford commit KC Braeger, who made the most of her meet, clocking a massive career best in the 100 backstroke.
Braeger, who represents Lakeside Swim Team and announced her commitment to Stanford in October of 2024, swam the 100 back individually, winning the event in 53.10, but also led off the 400 medley relay, where she swam her career best of 52.97, which topped her pre-meet best of 53.53 from the Kentucky High School State Championships in February.
In addition to her big 100 back best, she also swam a 50 back best time as the lead-off leg of the 200 medley relay in 24.81, as well as a 50 free career best performance in the prelims in 23.29.
Former Missouri swimmer Alex Ochsenbein clocked his fastest 100 breast time since the 2025 SEC Championships when he clocked his career best in 52.48. Here, he was just off his best time, earning the win in 52.61.
Wildcat Aquatics’ Kennedy Brooks, 15, logged a trio of best times herself, including a 200 back best of 1:59.62, a second and a half better than her former best time of 2:01.07 from these championships last season. She also managed to swim a career-best as the leadoff leg in the 200 medley relay, touching in 25.65, a two-tenth improvement. Her other best time was a big drop in the 100 fly, finishing 5th in 56.01.
Lakeside’s Quintin Braeger, 14, found himself atop the podium on various occasions in Danville, including a sweep of the backstrokes and IM races; He touched in 53.42 in the 100 back, 1:55.42 in the 200 back, 1:59.224 in the 200 IM, and 4:14.35 in the 400 IM, marking just four of his 8 total wins on the weekend.
15-year-old Blaise Harrison of Lakeside Aquatics rolled to a pair of impressive career bests in the IM (among many other best times on the meet), his 200 IM time of 1:51.91 was almost a full second faster than he was at the 2025 NAC Timedrop Music City Invitational in December when he notched his lifetime best of 1:52.74. His 400 IM saw an even larger improvement, as he flirted with that sub 4:00 barrier, touching in 4:00.87, dropping more than two seconds from his former top time of 4:02.94 at the Music City Invitational in December.
North Carolina Commit Hampton Stuecker also managed to drop solid time in Danville, dropping over nine seconds to win the 1000 free in 9:14.05, and adding another best time in the 100 fly in 49.41, his first time under 50 seconds.
