Somerset Valley Y promotes Dan Roth to take over as Director of Competitive Aquatics

The Somerset Valley YMCA of New Jersey has promoted from within, tabbing swim coach Dan Roth to take over as Director of Competitive Aquatics to replace the departed Matt Donovan.

Roth has been with Somerset Valley for three years, serving the last two as head age group coach. Before that, he coached swimming in a whole mix of venues, including YMCA (the Hudson Valley Dolphins of New York), high school (New Paltz High) and cub (Barclay Far Swim Club of New Jersey).

A collegiate swimmer for the State University of New York – New Paltz, Roth was a two-year captain.

In addition to serving as head age group coach, Roth was also an assistant coach to the Somerset Valley YMCA National team, winner of multiple YMCA National titles.

“This program has been my home for over three years now, and we’ve got something very special here at SVY,” said Roth. “I’m honored to take this new role with the team, and look forward to reaching greater heights and accomplishing even bigger goals in the future.”

Roth replaces Matt Donovan, who left the Somerset Valley YMCA in July to take over the Director of Competitive Aquatics position at the Broward County YMCA in Florida.
