Sweden has announced its roster for the upcoming European Championships in May, which will take place in London.
World record holder Sarah Sjostrom is the regular star here, and a crop of Swedish women have built a small but formidable supporting cast for her in recent years. Jennie Johansson is an elite breaststroker who joins Sjostrom on the roster, along with rising sprinter Louise Hansson and her sister Sophie Hansson. Longtime veteran Therese Alshammar will look to compete in the spring free and fly events, while familiar NCAA names Stina Gardell and Henriette Stenkvist round out a strong women’s roster.
For the men, national record holders Mattias Carlsson, Erik Persson, and Simon Sjodin highlight the roster. In terms of NCAA ties, Kristian Kron swam for the University of Utah and Alex Linge for LSU, while Daniel Forndal will be a member of NC State’s Wolfpack next year.
