Sikatzki Named Horizon League Men’s Swimmer of the Week

Philipp Sikatzki has been named the Horizon League Men’s Swimmer of the Week for his outstanding opening performance at Cincinnati over the weekend, leading the Viking men to a 1-1 start.

The junior from Leipzig, Germany brought home four separate first-place finishes at the tri-meet, including three individual events.

Sikatzki was part of the winning 200 Medley Relay team along with Tommi Wolst, Szymon Golczyk and Declan McLaughlin that posted a final time of 1:31.51.

Individually, Sikatzki won the 100 Back (49.34), the 100 Free (46.15) and the 100 IM (51.65). He had more than a full-second lead in two of those three finishes.

Last season, Sikatzki had four top-three finishes at the Horizon League Championships including a first-place finish in the 100 Back and 100 Fly.

The CSU swimming and diving teams will be back in action this weekend when the women head to Youngstown State on Friday (Oct. 23) at 5:00 p.m. and both teams host Gannon on Saturday (Oct. 24) at 1:00 p.m.
