RIO Salado Swim Club opening new satellite location at Arizona State under coach Anthony Pedersen

With Sun Devil Aquatics leaving the Arizona State University facility and merging with Mesa Aquatics, a local Tempe swim club has moved in to fill the void. RIO Salado Swim Club announced today it has hired coach Anthony Pedersen to head up a new satellite location training out of the ASU Student Recreation Center.

RIO Salado Swim Club has been centered in Tempe, Arizona since the 1970s and actually used to be called the “Tempe Swim Devils” through 1989. RIO also trained at ASU for several years in the early 2000s before moving to the newly-build Chandler High School pool.

Pedersen comes to RIO from Swim Neptune, and also coaches high school swimming at Desert Vista High, which won the Arizona girls state title last fall. Previously he has coached at Patriot Swim Club (which joined with Curl-Burke which has now been renamed Nation’s Capital Swim Club) and the Quantico Devil Dolphins.

Congrats to Coach Pedersen–RIO made a great hire to start up their new site at ASU. Pedersen has a solid track record of developing age groupers during his years with CUBU (now NCAP) and more recently with Swim Neptune. Good luck to AP and RIO on the new venture!
