Highlighting the third night of competition in Madison was Riley Anderson who broke the 1:00 mark in the girls 100 butterfly for the first time. Anderson swam to a time of a 59.55, dropping from her previous best of a 1:00.77 that she swam for 27th at US Summer Nationals last month.
The Duke commit’s time from this weekend would have moved her all the way up to 14th at US Summer Nationals. Anderson has made huge strides in the event this season as she entered the summer with a lifetime best of a 1:01.28. She is committed to arrive at Duke in fall 2026.
After winning the 100 backstroke in a lifetime best on night 2, Maggie Wanezek swam to a win in the 50 back touching in a 28.19. That was faster than her lifetime best of a 28.39 that she swam at 2022 Summer Juniors. She swam a 28.60 for 18th in the event at US Summer Nationals but her swim tonight would have moved her up to 13th.
The 200 breaststroke came down to the wire as Gabriella Augustyn touched in a 2:31.59 just ahead of Bridget McGann who swam to a 2:31.65. Augustyn dropped two seconds from her previous best of a 2:33.96 while McGann dropped from her lifetime best of a 2:32.74. Also highlighting the race was 15 year old Grace Koenig-Song who swam to a 2:32.42.
Minnesota’s Katie McCarthy earned the win in the 400 free by two and a half seconds winning in a 4:14.80. That was about three seconds off her best time of a 4:11.57 that she swam for 12th at US Summer Nationals.
Highlighting the boys side of the meet was Stuart Seymour who earned two wins on the night. Seymour began the night with a win in the 50 back, touching in a 25.33. Later in the evening, Seymour swam to a win in the 100 fly touching in a 52.73. Both were best times as his previous best times were a 26.86 and a 55.18. Seymour made huge strides this past SCY season competing with Northwestern.
Winning the 400 free was a 3:54.56 Eli Rolfsen who touched in a 3:54.56. Rolfsen broke the 4:00 mark for the first time as his previous best was a 4:00.29 from March’s Sectionals in Indianapolis. Rolfsen is set to join Miami-Ohio this fall. He earned the win over cal commit Max Goettsch who touched in a 3:56.29.
Maxwell Scheurer won the 200 breaststroke in a 2:17.22, about a second off his best time. He earned the win over Keian Lam who touched in a 2:18.22.
