Rice Owls Pick Up Versatile Brittany Bui of First Colony Swim Team

First Colony Swim Team’s Brittany Bui has elected to stay in Texas– she’ll join the Rice class of 2021. She is a Texas 6A State finalist after placing 11th in the 200 IM this past February.

Excited to announce my verbal commitment to swim for Rice! Thank you friends, family, coaches, and teammates

  • 200 breast – 2:18.77**
  • 200 back – 2:06.53
  • 200 IM – 2:05.60
  • 400 IM – 4:25.74
  • 100 breast – 1:05.61
  • 100 fly – 56.60

**Winter junior nationals cuts

Bui is incredibly versatile– she’s impressive across the 200’s of stroke, and as one might expect, that translates very well to the IM’s. Her best events are the 200 fly and 200 breast, where she owns winter junior nationals cuts in both races. She’ll be an immediate high-impact contributor at the C-USA level for the Owls. Bui would’ve finished in the 200 breast and 200 fly A-finals last year, while she’d have qualified for B-finals in the both IM’s, the 100 fly, and the 100 breast.

Bui will get to train with Marie-Claire Schillinger for two seasons. Schillinger is a breaststroker/IM’er who returns after winning both breaststroke titles at the 2016 C-USA Championships. Rice earned a 2nd-place finish at the 2016 C-USA Championships, and with an addition like Bui, they have another piece dedicated to their effort to eclipse defending champions FIU. She joins the following in Rice’s class of 2021:
