After winning the 200 free and 200 back yesterday in Italy, Federica Pellegrini returned to top the field in the 100 free. Her time of 52.75, touching ahead of Erika Ferraioli (53.38), was within six tenths of her national record. She decided to scratch out of the 100 back, closing her meet with three wins from three swims, as she gears up for the World Short Course Championships in Windsor next month. In Pellegrini’s absence, Silvia Scalia slammed down a 57.76 to win the 100 back, posting the top time for an Italian this season.

In the men’s 200 free, it was Filippo Magnini to the wall first in 1:44.60. The sprints were strong– Marco Orsi popped out a 21.47 to win the 50 free. Meanwhile, in the women’s 50 fly, Silvia Di Pietro swam well to win in 25.81. Martina Carraro posted a 30.83 to win the 50 breast, within tenths of Lisa Fissneider‘s national record. Fissneider was 31.18, but she returned in the 200 breast to win handily with a 2:23.09.

Gabriele Detti was absent from competition today, making way for another competitor to take top honors in the 1500 free. That person today was Domenico Acerenza, who was the only person to break 15 minutes. His 14:52.25 was over 16 seconds faster than the next-best swimmer. National record holder Fabio Scozzoli put up a win as well, swimming a 57.89 to take the 100 breast.
