PA Boys State Finalist Alex Boeckx Commits to Rider University

Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Suburban Seahawks Club’s Alex Boeckx has committed to swim at Rider University for the 2020-2021 season.

“I am humbled to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Rider University! The coaching staff and team made me feel very welcomed. Rider is an environment where I feel I can grow as a student and as a swimmer. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way. Go Broncs!”

Boeckx has competed under coach Kevin Pierce at Ridley High School for four years. In that time, he has qualified for the Pennsylvania Boys State Meet each year. During his freshman and sophomore seasons, he qualified for the 200 IM. Junior year, Boeckx qualified for both the 200 IM and the 100 breast. He made it back to finals in both events, earning the seventh-place spot on the podium in the 200 IM (1:51.76) after swimming a personal best time during prelims. His 100 breast swim earned him the bronze medal after he dropped a full second between his prelims and finals races.

Last month, he competed at the final state meet of his high school career. Boeckx finished 6th in prelims of the 100 breast (which became timed finals) and 5th in the finals of the 200 IM, before the end of ht meet was suspended and eventually cancelled over coronavirus fears.

Boeckx holds every one of Ridley High School’s individual team swimming records and his teammates voted his team captain his senior year.

Boeckx competes year-round for the Suburban Seahawks Club under coach Charlie Kennedy. In August of 2019, he competed at the NCSA Summer Swimming Championships. Individually, he swam the 50 and 100 free, the 50 and 100 breast, and the 100 back and 200 IM. He also swam on 5 relays for his team. He made it back to finals in the 100m breast, finishing 18th.

Top SCY Times:

  • 50 free – 21.25
  • 100 breast – 55.57
  • 100 free – 46.69
  • 100 back – 52.34
  • 100 fly – 51.27
  • 200 IM – 1:51.44

Boeckx’s top times would have gotten him into 3 finals at the 2020 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships. He would have made it into the B-final in the 100 back and the A-final in the 100 breast and 200 IM. In the fall, Boeckx will be joining Daniel Bednarski as a member of the class of 2024.
