Jeanette Ottesen of Denmark posted a time of 58.10 to win women’s 100 butterfly on the second evening of the Danish Cup, moving her up one spot in the world rankings. Ottesen had recorded a 58.17 earlier in the month ranking her fifth in the world rankings, her winning time today puts her in the fourth position on the list, passing Australian Ellen Gandy who posted a 58.16 earlier this year.
Christina Munkholm of Sweden finished second in the event finishing in a time of 58.63. Munkholm was only one one-hundredth of a second off her lifetime best putting up a time that places her ninth in the world rankings.

After watching her teammate move from fifth to fourth place in the world rankings Rikke Moller Pedersen repeated the same feat in the 50 breaststroke. Pedersen won the event in a time of 31.11 which beats her season’s best of 31.20 that ranked fifth in the world going into the day.
Her winning time moved her to fourth in the world rankings. Louise Dalgaard just missed the top 10 finishing second in a time of 31.65 followed by Anouk Elzerman who finished third in a time of 32.36.

The men’s 800 freestyle see the top three swimmers all finish with times that place them top 10 in the world rankings. Mads Glaesner of Denmark won the event in a time of 7:58.13 putting him in the fourth position in the rankings. Pawel Furtek of Poland finished in a time of 8:01.53 which puts him eighth while Anton Orskov Ipsen of Denmark finished third in a time of 8:01.96 placing him 10th in the world.
In the first final of the evening Eyglo Osk Gustafsdottir of Iceland won the women’s 200 backstroke recording a lifetime best time of 2:10.34 beating her previous best by four one-hundredths of a second. Gustasdottir’s time puts her ninth in the world so far this year.
Danish star Mie Nielsen, who is much better at the shorter backstroke events, finished second in a time of 2:12.46 and was only half a second off her lifetime best of 2:11.97. American Sarah Bridge finished third in a time of 2:13.88.
Lotte Friis of Denmark took her second event of the competition winning the women’s 400 freestyle in a time of 4:10.59. Friis’ was just off her season’s best of 4:09.35. Julie Aglund Lauridsen finished second in a time of 4:14.29 followed by May Howardsen who posted a time of 4:15.60.
Brazilian Alan Madeira Da Vitoria won the men’s 50 freestyle in a time of 22.47. Vitoria touched out Sebastian Szczepanski of Poland who hit the wall in a time of 22.69. Daniel Anderson Steen finished third in a time of 23.39.
After finishing second in the 100 butterfly Viktor Bromer of Denmark returned the pool winning the 200 butterfly in a time of 1:58.54.
Brazilian Raphael de Oliveira Rodrigues won the men’s 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:01.61 while Alicja Tchorz of Poland took the women’s 400 IM in a time of 4:50.19.
