Oakland recorded sweeps in nine official events, and posted the fastest times in three additional races. In total, 16 different Golden Grizzlies earned official individual first-place finishes, with two more victories coming from additional athletes for 18 total unique wins.
To open the meet, the women’s 200 medley relay was swept by the Black and Gold. The A relay team of Grace Albrecht, Maya Dobry, Viviane Partridge, and Kelley Hassett won in 1:46.59, with the B and C team relays close behind to take second and third. On the men’s side, Oakland went 1-2, as the A team of Ajjuub Ezzat, Christopher Palvadre, Micah Scheffer, and Charles Brown touched first.
The longest race of the day also went to Oakland on both sides. Megan Donnelly claimed the women’s 1650 free title, while Nicholas Karel Subagyo took the men’s race. Delaney Buckner and Victor Teeters finished second and third, respectively, in their events.
Oakland then swept the next four events. In the 200 free, Hassett, Avery Beal, and Nora Molnar went 1-2-3 for the women, while Ike Martinez, Cooper Dillman, Carson Ricker, and Andrew Gelston swept the top four spots in the men’s race. The 50 free saw the Golden Grizzlies occupy the top four spots as well. In the 200 IM, Lydia Soldatke and Clarissa Bezuidenhout finished first and second overall for the women, while Max Haney and Eli Stoll placed first and third for the men. Bezuidenhout and Stoll later matched their podium finishes in the 100 back, with Venter and Ezzat earning the victories in their respective races.
Oakland divers also turned in strong performances. Elizabeth Woollcott and Abigail McCool placed first and third on the 1-meter dive, then came back to finish second and first, respectively, on the 3-meter. Alayna Okonoski completed the podium sweep on the 3-meter by placing third. On the men’s side, Liam James and Owen Cox both earned top finishes, with James taking first on the 1-meter and third on the 3-meter, and Cox placing second on the 1-meter and first on the 3-meter.
The 100 fly and 100 free produced three more Oakland event sweeps. Albrecht, Todd, Ava McNamara, and Grace Gray went 1-2-3-4 in the women’s 100 fly, before Archer Jankoviak, Martinez, and Rohacs completed a sweep of their own in the men’s race. The 500 free, 100 breast, and 200 free relay were not counted toward Oakland’s final score, but the Golden Grizzlies still produced podium finishes and event sweeps.
