BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Northeastern women’s swimming and diving team picked up a season-opening win at Vermont today, 165-134.

The Huskies came away with 10 victories on the day to push them over the edge.

  • 200-yard medley relay quartet of Kate CosgroveMarcela ScaramuzzaJamie Koo and Kira Parker (1:47.49) picked up a win.

  • Lena Wang (32.04) won the 50-yard breaststroke, while Koo won the 50-yard freestyle (24.11) and 50-yard butterfly (25.37).

  • Erin Murphy (261.30) won the 1M Dive and the 3M Dive (258.9).

  • Anna Verlander (56.81) won the 100-yard backstroke and Scaramuzza (1:06.55) won the 100-yard breaststroke.

  • Hannah Seward came out on top in the 100-yard IM (1:00.73).

  • The quartet of Koo, Parker, Kotoko Blair and Cambria Semmen (3:34.01) were victorious in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

  • The team of Teagan OsgaElisabeth Bendall, Semmen, and Blair (1:49.35) came in second in the 200-yard medley relay, while the quartet of Devon Muldoon, Wang, Seward and Emily Cooley came in third (1:49.49)

  • Seward and Verlander finished third and fourth respectively in the 200-yard freestyle (1:55.89) and (1:56.43), as well as the 100-yard freestyle (52.82) and (53.09)

  • Parker earned a second-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke (27.50), while Cosgrove came in third (27.91)

  • In the 50-yard breaststroke, Bendall finished second (31.80) and Osga finished third (31.85).

  • Blair took home second in the 50-yard freestyle (24.31), while Lauren O’Sullivan (244.79) and Anelise Kim (226.19) finished second and third in the 1M Dive.

  • Semmen (26.31) grabbed a second-place finish in the 50-yard butterfly.

  • O’Sullivan (249.07) and Lizzie Meschisen (234.00) finished second and third in the 3M Dive.

The Huskies will be back in the pool for a tri-meet with UConn and Rhode Island on Oct. 7-8 in Storrs, Conn.

BURLINGTON, Vt. – First years Autumn Bullinger and Natalie Schlemmer each took home an event victory in their first collegiate meet Saturday morning at Forbush Natatorium. The Catamounts won a total of seven events but came up just short 165-134 to Northeastern. Saturday was the Catamounts annual Military Appreciation Meet presented by Milton CAT.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Ella Church won the 1000 free with a time of 10:38.14 beating the field by 17.48 seconds. Emily Rocco finished in second in 10:55.45.
  • First year Autumn Bullinger registered her first collegiate victory in her first event, the 50 backstroke, finishing in a time of 26.62. She also finished second in the 100 backstroke coming in at a time of 57.89
  • Jackie House started her year off on a winning note taking home the 200 free with a time of 1:53.37 just outpacing fellow Catamount Mina Poppas who finished second in 1:54.73. House also took home first in the 100 free and 500 free. She finished the 100 in a time of 52.32 and 5:04.23 in the 500.
  • Hally Laney had a strong start to the season as well placing first in the 100 fly with a final time of 56.90. She also placed second in the 100 IM and third in the 50 fly. Her time in the 100 was 1:00.75 (behind first by 0:00.02) and she finished with a time of 26.36 in the 50.
  • Natalie Schlemmer won her first collegiate race taking the 50 breaststroke in a time of 31.55. Schlemmer also took second in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.88 and fourth in the 100 IM finishing in 1:02.08.

The Catamounts will be back at Forbush Natatorium again on Saturday, October 8 to face Merrimack. That meet is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and will be streamed live on Americaeast.TV.
